Nitric oxide and angiogenesis.

چکیده
Endothelium-derived nitric oxide (NO) is a mediator of angiogenesis. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) stimulates the release of NO from cultured human umbilical venous endothelial cells and upregulates the expression of nitric oxide synthase (NOS).1,2 Segments of rabbit thoracic aorta release NO in response to VEGF; preincubation with L-arginine increases basal and VEGFstimulated NO release 2-fold.2 Similar results are observed when the angiogenic stimulus is transforming growth factor or basic fibroblast growth factor.3–5

Effects of Low-dose Morphine on Nitric Oxide Concentration and Angiogenesis in Two-kidney One Clip Hypertensive Rats
Objective(s) We investigated the effects of low-dose morphine on nitric oxide (NO) and angiogenesis in two-kidney one clip hypertensive (2K1C) rats. Materials and Methods Male rats were divided into two groups: sham-clip operated and 2K1C. Each group subdivided into saline and morphine (3 mg/kg i.p. 8 weeks) groups. Blood pressure, heart rate, plasma renin activity (PRA), NO concentration an...
متن کاملAngiogenesis and Nitric Oxide in Elderly Men after Continuous and Interval Aerobic Training
Objective: The reasons that some of these studies have offered for aerobic training’s lack of tangible effect on the level of angiogenesis, are subjects’ readiness and the conditions of their diseases, while others have detected the intensity and the frequency of doing the aerobic trainings as the factors preventing the effectiveness of them on the level of angiogenesis. Thus, the p...
متن کاملNoscapine Inhibiting the Growth and Angiogenesis of Human Eutopic Endometrium of Endometriosis Patients through Expression of Apoptotic Genes and Nitric Oxide Reduction in Three-Dimensional Culture Model
Noscapine is a natural alkaloid with anti-angiogenesis activities. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of noscapine on eutopic endometrium of endometriosis patients (EEE) and normal endometrium (NE)in a three-dimensional (3D) culture model. In this experimental in-vitro study, EEE (n = 8) and NE (n = 8) biopsies were taken from 16 reproductive aged women. The biopsie...

متن کاملNitric oxide in vascular endothelial growth factor-induced focal angiogenesis and matrix metalloproteinase-9 activity in the mouse brain.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) can induce matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 activities and focal angiogenesis. We hypothesized that VEGF activation of cerebral MMP-9 would require nitric oxide participation. METHODS We compared the in vivo effects of: (1) N(G)-monomethyl-l-arginine, a nonspecific nitric oxide synthase inhibitor; (2) L-N(6)-(1-iminoethyl)lysine...
متن کاملIs there a role for nitric oxide in tumor angiogenesis?
In this issue of the Journal, Gallo et al. (1) report an interesting analysis of nitric oxide production and angiogenesis in head and neck cancers. They observed the following: 1) Tumor levels of total nitric oxide synthase activity (including inducible nitric oxide synthase activity) and of 38,58 cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) (a known mediator of cellular response to nitric oxide) were...
